Ah, Vancouver. One of my favorite cities. I love a place where I can enjoy the bustle and goings-on of a city but also escape to nature quickly. Vancouver has so much to offer in terms of a great trip, but that’s a post for another day. Today I want to tell you all about a few culinary delights I found while visiting Vancouver. While I’m sure this list will barely scrape the tip of the iceberg, I couldn’t help but write some of these drool-worthy encounters. So if you’re looking to find out where to eat in Vancouver, let’s dive in.
Cambodian at Phnom Penh
This little restaurant is the real deal. We had to do a little walking from our Airbnb around Gastown to get there. The wait was about 40 mins for a table but I have no regrets! I was in the mood to try something new and authentic and boy did Phnom Penh serve it up. We ordered a handful of dishes and left no crumb untouched. This place should be at the top of your list.
Splurge at Gotham Steakhouse
If you want to treat yourself to something special check-in at Gotham Steakhouse. We visited while in Vancouver to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed! Though it was our most expensive meal by far while in the city, it was quite a treat. The bone marrow appetizer was particularly delicious. The cheesecake we shared for dessert might top my list of all cheesecakes (and I’ve lived in New York!). If you’re looking for something classy to add to your list of where to eat in Vancouver, look no farther.
Get Your Caffeine Fix at Nemesis
If you find yourself needing a nice breakfast or quick pick me up around the Gastown area pop into Nemesis Coffee. We were lucky enough to nap an outdoor table and enjoy a little sunshine while refilling. The lattes and cappuccinos were as smooth and delicious as you could want. Beyond caffeine, they offered a variety of delicious food. We opted to keep it small with pastries instead of full plates but the pistachio kouign-amann was to die for. Every list, including this where to eat in Vancouver list, needs a little caffeine!
Basically Anywhere on Granville (but I’ll recommend Granville Island Brewery)
Granville Island deserves a post of its own – but let’s just go ahead and say broadly you should pop over and explore all it has to offer. The public market is a fantastic stop and there is really no limit to how much deliciousness you can find in this area. We wandered around and took in all the sites and smells (and a few bites) before coming to rest at the Granville Island Brewery. It was great to take a rest and enjoy some conversation over a flight of cold beer and some delicious poutine.
Okay maybe I am just a little obsessed, but were you even really in Vancouver if you didn’t have JapaDog at least once? We stopped at the street cart as we wandered around and I was so excited to try these delicious delish twists on the plain hotdog. Incredibly flavorful and a lot of fun, don’t leave without trying.
I hope you enjoyed this selection of delicious food and drink! Hopefully, you’ll get to try a few on your next trip to Vancouver or maybe you’ll share some of your favorites with me for my next trip! If you want more delicious food articles, check out the Eats section of the blog!
